A local favorite, the Spring Creek Canyon trail offers a delightful 5.3-mile in-and-out hike, just across the valley from the ranch. The trailhead features a small parking lot with no admission or parking fees. The journey begins through lush meadowlands, with the canyon’s striking red walls closing in on you as you venture deeper. The moderately challenging hike crosses the stream and presents crisscrossing paths that reveal the heart of the canyon. Depending on the season, the trail may be less apparent, so bringing along the AllTrails app with GPS is advisable. For those who start early on a clear morning, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking sunrise illuminating the upper canyon walls. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed, while horseback riders are frequent companions. In summer, aim to conclude your hike by noon to avoid the midday heat as you return through open areas closer to the trailhead. With its intriguing features and stunning landscapes, Spring Creek Canyon is a fantastic family trail.
